150,000 Personnel Ready to Secure Jakarta

As many as 150 thousand of joint personnel are ready to secure the capital on the celebration of Christmas and New Year. They are police, army, Satpol PP, Transportation Dept, as well as some public elements.

National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian disclosed the officer will be spread at various points, especially worship place, recreational site, as well as other vital objects. Security during Christmas and New Year is called as 2016 Operasi Lilin (Operation Candle).

"2016 Operasi Lilin will be running over 10 days, precisely from December 23, 2016-January 1, 2017. With consideration could be extended up to January 2, depends on the situation," he stated, in a ceremony of 2016 Operasi Lilin, in Monas, Thursday (12/22).

Of the 150,000 personnel, 80,000 out of them are police, 15 personnel of army, 3,000 personnel of Satpol PP, 3,000 personnel of Transportation Dept. And the rest are public elements.

Tito added that they are alerted to anticipate terrorism, conflicts of conventional crime, theft in the empty house, and others. Considering there will be a concentration of mass at some points, either during Christmas or New Year.
