27 Street Vendors in Jembatan Tiga Relocated to Mall

There is no rental cost for vendors in the mall. But they only pay for cleanliness, water and electricity

Around 27 street vendors who are selling merchandise along roadside or precisely in front of the Al-Mukhlisin Mosque, Jalan Jembatan Tiga, North Jakarta, will be relocated to the Emporium Mall, Pluit, Penjaringan, today or Tuesday (5/27). If they are still selling on the roadside after Sunday (6/1), officers will evict them forcibly.

Head of North Jakarta Cooperative Small Micro Medium Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department, Almon Daniel disclosed his sub-department has conducted persuasive effort to relocate the street vendors. And it was already agreed by vendors on Sunday (5/11). It aims to parse traffic congestion and prevent illegal parking on the roadside.

Kebayoran Lama Street Vendors Relocation Hampered

"After passing through long discussion, the Emporium management is willing to accommodate the vendors. They also had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday (5/26)," he told, Tuesday (5/27).

In the mall, transaction operational will be opened 9 AM-10 PM every day.

"There is no rental cost for vendors in the mall. But they only pay for cleanliness, water and electricity," he told.

Daniel hoped the vendors could obey the rules. If not, he would give sanction to them.

Mulyono, (35), one of vendors admitted that he has been selling ketoprak for three years around Jalan Jembatan Tiga. He hoped his income could increase in the new location. "Hopefully, the buyer is rampant here like outside," he expected.
