New Year’s Eve Leaves 225 Tons of Waste

Jakarta Dept. of Cleanliness directly cleaning the waste after celebration of new year. It is predicted the waste reached 225 tons.

The cleaning was started at 12.30 AM by involving 6,000 freelancers

“The cleaning was started at 12.30 AM by involving 6,000 freelancers,” said Isnawa Adji, agency’s head, Sunday (1/1).

Personnel cleaned the areas like Bundaran HI, Jalan Medan Merdeka, Tugu Tani Statue, Kemayoran, GBK, Monas, Kota Tua, and TMII.

As many as 70 dump and compactor trucks were involved including 40 road sweepers, 11 toilet buses, 200 motorcycle carts, and 30 pickup cars.

“The cleaning process was still running at 3.50 AM in Kota Tua since many people were still enjoying their time,” he added.

80 percent of the waste were dominated by inorganic waste such as plastic, styrofoam, and trumpet.

“The effort was completed fully at 7 AM, and the waste was disposed to Bantar Gebang,” he closed.
