The Jakarta Transportation Department is going to shut down two Transjakarta bus stops next week in order to smoothen the construction of the MRT's subway project. Hence, Transportation Department has built one bus stop as replacement.
The new Karet bus stop is located in front of Le Meridien Hotel and will be operated next week
Head of Management and Traffic Engineering Division for Jakarta Transportation Department, Masdes Arrofi disclosed on June 4, two bus stops will be shut down, namely Karet and Setiabudi. He hoped, the bus passenger can understand and adjust to this policy.
"The new Karet bus stop is located in front of Le Meridien Hotel and will be operated next week," he told, Wednesday (5/28).
Basuki: MRT Project will Not Be CanceledAccording to him, the new Karet bus stop was built larger than the previous bus stop. The aim is able to accommodate the passengers in such closed bus stops. By so, there will be no passengers surge.
"We deliberately build the bus stop larger to accommodate the passenger in large quantities," he expressed.
The new bus stop was already tested out on May 27. Arrofi has coordinated with PT Transjakarta to conduct socialization to the passenger. That is by removing banners at each bus stop. In addition, communication is also done via the Transjakarta official website and other social media.
He assessed that those closed bus stops will be eliminated permanently for the MRT infrastructure needs in Bendungan Hilir and Setiabudi. "Thus, the passenger can use the Setiabudi Bus Stop for adjustments," he stated.
Meanwhile, Director of PT MRT Jakarta, Dono Boestami disclosed that such closure is needed for construction of MRT's Bendungan Hilir and Setiabudi stations. "We've coordinated with PT Transjakarta and Jakarta Transportation Department regarding the closure of Karet and Setiabudi bus stops," he added.
Previously, the HI Roundabout Transjakarta bus stop was also closed down first for the same reasons. Then the same thing would also be imposed to Senayan and City Police Bus Stops. But they are only moved, not closed down completely. Currently, the bus stop construction is still being processed.
