Jakarta Provincial Government keeps rejuvenating parks serve as green open spaces (RTH) in the capital city. In Central Jakarta for instance, 12 city parks and sidewalks will be rejuvenated by local Parks Sub-Department. In addition, seed parks will also be built in the middle of settlements. However, adding more parks cannot be done yet due to the difficulties faced in land acquisition.

But, adding parks cannot be realized this year ,” stated Head of Central Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Jansen Saragih, Thursday (5/29).According to Saragih, some of the 12 parks which have been proposed to ULP to be rejuvenated are located on Jalan Sabang, Jalan Jaksa, Jalan Teuku Cik Ditiro, Jalan Surabaya, Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto, Jalan Manggono, Jalan Kramat, and Jalan Salemba.

We’re also proposing two other locations to be transformed into seed parks,” he uttered.
For next year, Saragih disclosed that his sub-department is determined to eliminate slums in Central Jakarta by planting green plants and trees.
“The area next to the Oasis Amir Hotel (on Jalan Senen Raya) is used as parking lot for bajajs and buses. We’ll transform it into a park,” he told.
