City Provincial Government along with Ministry of Public Works and Housing signed a dossier of handover of Water Supply System (SPAM) to Untung Jawa Island, Seribu Islands.

All infrastructures of SPAM in such island will be built with Sea Water Reserve Osmosis (SWRO) technology and use fund of 2013-2015 APBN.

Jakarta Acting Governor, Sumarsono revealed will adopt the system in other islands. Because it is much needed by citizens in the islands.

"We'll imitate the model owned by Ministry of Public Works and Housing to be applied in other islands," he stated, at City Hall, Wednesday (1/18).

He also asked the ministry to give assistance in the management of the SWRO SPAM.Thus there is continuity in management.

"The ministry requests assistance thus its management can be continued," he stated.

Director of Water Supply System Development, Mochammad Natsir explained fund for SPAM SWRO development reached Rp 11.8 billion.

"SWRO capacity is reaching 2.5 liters per second, which is able to meet service requirements for 600 homes," he explained. 

Natsir explained, water from distillation results can be consumed directly by citizens at no charge. Distilled water is taken from sea water with a depth of up to 60 meters, thus it is safe from water pollution.

"Its management will be handed over to PD PAM Jaya," he finished.
