Transjakarta Bus Purchase Prioritizing Quality

PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) will buy 1,700 new buses this year. The bus quality will be a top priority, because purchase is done through the National Procurement Agency (LKPP).

There are seven auto bodies in LKPP, but according to Transjakarta Director, only four are completely safe for the contract to maintain the quality of the bus

City Secretary, Saefullah disclosed, there are seven auto bodies (karoseri) included in LKPP. To get the best result, the bus purchase is only four auto bodies. 

"There are seven auto bodies in LKPP, but according to Transjakarta Director, only four are completely safe for the contract to maintain the quality of the bus," he stated, at City Hall, Monday (1/30).

No Bus Purchase This Year, Basuki Says

Hence, it needs time to produce 1,700 units ordered. It is predicted thousands of buses already being manufactured by the end of this year. "So totally we will have 3,000 buses by the end of this year," he stated.

Meanwhile, PT Transjakarta President Director, Budi Kaliwono added has surveyed the field towards seven auto bodies in LKPP.

"We only use several auto bides in LKPP. Some are not forwarded, because of the doubted quality. We wanted a trusted. Because this is 10-year operation so must be careful," he finished.
