Towards Ramadan, 33 PMKSs Netted

Towards the holy month of Ramadan, Jakarta Provincial Government is more intensive controlling people with social welfare problems (PMKS) in five regions in the city. 33 PMKSs netted in a raid by joint personnel, Sunday (6/1). Dozens of PMKSs were directly sent to Kedoya Bina Insan Bangun Daya 1 Social Institution, West Jakarta. The raid will be carried out continuously since the city is usually thronged by PMKS every Ramadan.

Head Section of Social Rehabilitation Services of City Social Department, Ucu Rahayu, said that the raid aims to anticipate the flare of PMKS ahead Ramadan. The raid was done since Sunday dawn until afternoon. The 33 PMKSs  consists of 11 vagrants and beggars, 4 commercial sex workers, 11 transgender, 1 scavenger, 1 porter, 1 mental disable person, and 4 street singers.

"All netted PMKSs will be sent to Kedoya Bina Insan Bangun Daya 1 Social Institution. It is aimed to identify and study the guidance and rehabilitation process according to their background and  problems," said Ucu Rahayu.

One month, 149 PMKSs Netted in Central Jakarta

This raid involved 75 joint personnel consists of Satpol PP, City Metro Police and Social Department. The raid swept a number of points in the city such a Kampung Melayu Terminal, Pulo Gadung Industrial Area, Pramuka Intersection, Coca-Cola Intersection.
