Jakarta Provincial Government launched eight Betawi Culture icons as follow-up from Regional Regulations (Perda) No 4/2015 about Betawi Culture Conservation.

Today we launch Pergub No. 11/2017 about Betawi Culture icons which already established last February 1st

Those eight icons are Ondel-Ondel, Kembang Kelapa, Gigi Balang Ornament, Sadariah Clothes, Kebaya Kerancang, Betawi's Batik, Kerak Telor, and Bir Pletok.

The Regional Regulations (Perda) has been regulated in Governor Regulation (Pergub) No. 229/2016 about Betawi Culture Conservation Management.

"Today we launch Pergub No. 11/2017 about Betawi Culture icons which already established on last February 1st," said Sumarsono, Acting Jakarta Governor (Plt), after attending Betawi icon's launching at City Hall, Sunday (2/5).

According to him, Betawi icon's establishment has its standardization and uniformity. This is also important to develop Betawi Culture as real traditional culture of Jakarta.

"In the future, we want Jakarta be built with Betawi spirit as its foundation," he added.

After Pergub is published, its instruction and announcement letter will be issued so that Betawi icons can enliven the entire building in Jakarta. Later, all government offices, school buildings, and others will be decorated with traditional Betawi ornament.

"All employees in Jakarta have to wear Betawi's batik also," he closed.
