Pengoperasian Kapal Sekolah Terkendala

School Boats Operational in Seribu Islands Still Hampered

Three school boats belong to Seribu Islands Transportation Sub-dept. are not operated yet. This is because of administration problem related with changes in regional organizations.

We're still awaiting the dept's policy. Temporarily, we continue to maintain the boat so it is not damaged

Formerly, the sub-dept. had the main duties to conduct supervision, maintenance and operational. Yet, the supervision and operational had been handed over to the Management Unit of Water Transport and Harbor (UP-APK) under Jakarta Transportation Dept.

They proposed the UP-APK function to be delegated to Transportation Sub-dept. thus school boats could be operated.

School Boat Requested to Be Used for Education Tourism

"There must be a transition administratively. Certainly, the boat can be used and operated. It is useless if it cannot be used," stressed Ismer Harahap, Deputy Regent of Seribu Islands, Monday (2/6).

On the other hand, Seribu Islands Transportation Sub-dept Head, Robert Edward justified the current supervision duty lies in UP-APK and maintenance still lies in Transportation Sub-dept.

"We're still awaiting the dept.'s policy. Temporarily, we continue to maintain the boat so it is not damaged," he finished.
