Shopping Center Asked to Close Temporarily on Election Day

City Council asked economic centers such as shopping center and shops to close temporarily until 1 PM on February 15.

This policy is considered important to its employees and owners of shopping center and shops so they can use voting rights. This method is considered can increase public participation on City election day effectively.

City Council Commission A Chairman, Riano P. Ahmad, said the shopping center's activities can start when voting time in voting booth (TPS) already ended.

"If possible, related institution can be involved to make sure mall, shop, and supermarket obeying this request," he said, Friday (2/10).

Moreover, he also asked each regional heads can socialize each other.

"The election success is our responsibility. The citizen should not feel deterred when going to vote," he closed.

As previously reported, Acting Jakarta Governor, Sumarsono affirmed that on February 15, 2017 activities in government and private offices must be off. Except, public services such as hospital and health center (puskesmas).
