Jakartans, Beware of These 54 Crime-Prone Points

Ahead of the fasting month, the City Police are mapping crime-prone areas to prevent crime actions in the capital city. From the mapping done, at least 54 points should be look out for.

As for the crime-prone points in Jakarta are located in Coca-cola junction (Central Jakarta), Pulo Gadung Terminal (East Jakarta), Senen Station (Central Jakarta), Tanjung Priok (North Jakarta), as well as Taman Sari, Tambora, and under Grogol Bridge (West Jakarta)

“From the mapping, there are 54 crime-prone points spread in 12 resort police areas,” said City Police Public Relations Division Chief Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, Monday (6/2).

Those crime-prone points are located in City Police areas (13 points), Central Jakarta Resort Police (10 points), East Jakarta Resort Police (3 points), West Jakarta Resort Police (6 points), South Jakarta Resort Police (3 points), North Jakarta Resort Police (3 points), and Tanjung Priok Port Resort Police (3 points).

Other crime-prone points spotted in outside Jakarta are Bekasi City Regency Police (1 point), Depok Resort Police (1 point), Soekarno-Hatta Airport Resort Police (1 point), Bekasi Regency Resort Police (3 points), Tangerang City Regency Resort Police (3 points), and Tangerang Regency Resort Police (3 points).

“As for the crime-prone points in Jakarta are located in Coca-cola junction (Central Jakarta), Pulo Gadung Terminal (East Jakarta), Senen Station (Central Jakarta), Tanjung Priok (North Jakarta), as well as Taman Sari, Tambora, and under Grogol Bridge (West Jakarta),” told Rikwanto.

According to Rikwanto, common crimes that often occur are street crime, motorcycle theft, and theft in empty homes ahead. In fasting month, criminals would conduct their actions at pre-dawn meals before fasting and during tarawih prayer. Then a week ahead of Eid ul Fitr, their targets are homecomers at train stations and bus terminals.

“The Police Criminal Investigation Directorate will prepare 300 personnel to monitor those crime-prone points. Nevertheless, public’s roles are also important to us by holding siskamling (community patrol) in each residential. Don’t easily believe new people you know and make sure the house is locked and guarded by local security officers when you’re going to travel,” he asserted.
