409 Stationary Pumps in City Ensured in Great Condition

City Water Resources Dept. ensured 409 stationary Pumps which spread in 140 City's pump houses are in a great condition.

Since 2016, we already have maintenance contract with ATPM. There are 47 pumps with that brand from 49 units we have in total for a year

90 mobile pumps in flood-prone locations such as in Kemang, Kampung Melayu, Bukit Duri, and Cipinang Melayu also ensured can be operated optimally.

City Water Resources Dept. Head, Teguh Hendrawan, said all this time, pumps maintenance become prior in his department because it has an important function. If pump's condition was great, then flood and inundation in the City can be minimized.

"Since 2016, we already have maintained contract with sole agent (ATPM). There are 47 pumps with that brand from 49 units we have in total for a year," he said on Wednesday (2/22).

He explained in Pluit area, there is pump house condition that considered good. That pumps ready to be operated for 24 hours or equally same as 3 pump houses in Ancol area.

"We ensured pumps are in great condition. There should no damaged or cannot be operated," he closed.

Related to flood in City recently, that condition was triggered because of high rainfall intensity thus water level in headwaters risen and several levees were broken.

"In Cipinang Melayu, because there are many broken levees, water level was high and added with non-stop raining," he said.

According to him, flood handling must be supported with good infrastructure, also people must be aware to protect river and another water channels by not throwing trash carelessly.

"If people aware of disaster, they would not want to live in river banks and throw garbage carelessly," he closed.
