12 Cars in South Jakarta Failed in Emission Test

As many as 175 four wheeled vehicles conducting free gas emission test held in South Jakarta Environmental Office on Jalan Taman Makam Pahlawan (TMP), Kalibata, South Jakarta. From that free emission test, 12 cars were failed.

If it overwhelming exhausts limitation, we suggest them to have engine check in official workshops

“We assessed that the density level of Jalan Kalibata is high. We want to see its gas exhaust limits produced by motor vehicles. Whether affects to environment sustainable if exhaust gas is overwhelming the limit. If it overwhelming exhausts limitation, we suggest them to have engine check in official workshops,” Maspud said, South Jakarta Environmental Office Head, Tuesday (6/3).

“This activity is held due to langit biru (blue sky) and green city program which is aimed to realize Regional Policy Number 2/2005 about Air Pollution Control and City Governor’s Decree No. 92/2007 about Motor Vehicle Emission Test,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Eka, a gas emission officer stated that vehicle gas exhaust level have to complete the requirement such as maximum 1.5 percent of carbon dioxide level and maximum 200 rpm hc for premium fueled car above 2007, and also 3.0 percent maximum of carbon dioxide level, and 700 rpm hc maximum. Meanwhile, for diesel vehicles, gas exhaust level that complete requirement is complete opacity or smoke thickness for 50 percent. “It is better if vehicle owner conducting gas emission test once in 6 months,” he said.
