Trash Volume in C. Jakarta Reduced by 35 Percent

Trash volume in Central Jakarta that will be dumped to landfill (TPA) is reduced by 35 percent after the trash bank was multiplied.

We targeted to have trash bank in each RW

Previously, for about 4,500 cubic meters of trash is directly dumped to landfill everyday. But, recently 1,600 cubic meters was succeed to be reduced because of trash banks.

Central Jakarta Development and Economic Assistant, Bakwan Ferizan Ginting, said numbers of trash banks in his working area has reached around 400 banks. Trash banks will be multiplied again thus dumped trash can be more reduced.

Seribu Islands Targeted to Provide 23 Trash Banks

"A city that succeed managing the trash was seen from the fewer residual trash," he said at Rawasari Integrated Trash Processing Place (TPST), Monday (3/6).

He explained that trash sorting and processing must be cultivated by all citizen. Thus trash that have economical value can be recycled and utilized.

"We targeted to have trash bank in each RW," he added.

According to him, in Rawasari TPST already processing organic trash. Moreover, there are 100 sacks of organic trash that succeed to be processed and have been sold every month.
