BUMD Involved to Keep Staples Stock During Ramadan

Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Dept. is about to cooperate with three regional-owner enterprises (BUMD) to stabilize staple food stocks during Ramadan.

"Demand in staples supply in Ramadan will be prioritized to meet the needs of middle-lower class people through subsidized prices," expressed Darjamuni, Head of Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Dept., Monday (3/13).

Those three enterprises are PD Pasar Jaya, PD Dharma Jaya and PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya. They are involved because of having experience to keep staples stock for Jakartans.

Staple Food Transport Cost to Seribu Island to Be Subsidized

"They've been good at keeping the stock of some staples prior to Ramadan," he expressed.

He explained that a number of staples that needed every day is 2,664 tons of rice, 1 million of chicken meat and 164 tons of beef.

"Predictably the staple needs will increase 20 percent during Ramadan and Eid ul Fitr," he disclosed.
