Jakarta Inflation Trend Continues to Decline in 2017 First Quarter

Jakarta inflation trend in 2017 first quarter continues to decline. From 0.99 percent in January into 0.33 in February, and 0.05 percent in March.

Until March, Jakarta year's inflation rate still in 1.37 percent

Jakarta Statistics Central Bureau (BPS) Head, Thoman Pardosi said inflation which occurred in January is related to vehicle license (STNK) and mobile credits higher prices. This increase is occurred evenly throughout Indonesia.

"During economic recovery, the trend continues to decline. The most significant are from food ingredients -0.34 percent, as well as transportation and financial services -0.11 percent," he said, Monday (4/3).

January 2017, Jakarta Inflation Reached 0.99 Percent

He admitted Jakarta Provincial Government's policy to maintain food ingredients sector also has an effect. With maintained supply, market demand is fulfilled thus there is no price spikes that could potentially trigger inflation.

Meanwhile, sectors that still give the highest inflation is come from instant food and beverages sector as many as 0.38 percent and housing, water, electricity, and fuel sector as many as 0.23 percent.

He said it is need strict supervision to keep maintaining inflation rate not raising. Thus if there is any mark-up, can be anticipated immediately.

"Until March, Jakarta year's inflation rate still in 1.37 percent. If not maintained, the rate may rise," he closed.
