Dishub Learns TOD Implementation in Japan

Jakarta Transportation Dept. (Dishub) together with central government conducted a comparative study of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) implementation in Japan.

In there, all terminals and stations are using TOD concept. This will be our homework. Buildings are integrated each other

Jakarta Dishub Head, Andri Yansyah said, in this comparative study, his side visited four cities in Japan which traffic flow categorized from not crowded into most crowded level. Those cities are Tokyo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Kokura.

"In there, all terminals and stations are using TOD concept. This will be our homework. Buildings are integrated each other," he said at City Hall, Wednesday (5/3).

According to him, this comparative study will be reported to Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama first. In Japan, TOD concept has been made from 1872 and will be implemented to 2045.

"This concept must be imitated. their concept for 173 years long is always consistent and mutually sustainable in terms of planning," he stated.

He also added that in capital, the first TOD concept will be implemented in Dukuh Atas. Where transportation modes were made in integrated manner, from Commuter Line, Transjakarta Bus, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), and airport train.

"Thing which needs to be imitated is the consistency in planning," he closed.
