City Prepares MRT’s TOD Regulation

Jakarta Provincial Government prepares regulation for Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) transit oriented development (TOD). The regulation could be in form of bylaw or governor regulation.
It can be issued in form of bylaw to manage the MRT operational
Acting Jakarta Governor, Sumarsono, said MRT operational needs government’s policy for TOD. It is targeted the TOD can be issued in a year ahead.
“It can be issued in form of bylaw to manage the MRT operational,” he said, Thursday (1/5).
MRT Project Can Finish On TimeHe promises to accelerate the regulation arrangement since MRT is targeted to operate in 2019.
Meanwhile, PT MRT Director, William P Sabandar, stated there should be a bylaw or governor regulation to manage the TOD. Later on, PT MRT will get authority to manage business and property at station and its surrounding.
He admitted his side has master plan concept related with TOD.
“Basic concept will be proposed, but the decision maker is not from PT MRT,” he stated.
