Deep Well Water Using in North Jakarta Remains High

The rampant deep well water using in North Jakarta without the equal taxpayer has caused the North Jakarta to suffer material loss of billions rupiahs. The using also causes the soil surface, which is mostly of the area is sea, to decline.

Aetra should back up the City Administration, as supposed to be, the deep well in North Jakarta should be zero, it is forbidden

North Jakarta Mayor, Heru Budi Hartono, said that the North Jakarta is supposed to be not using the deep well water any more. His party has also banned the deep well water using in North Jakarta through PT Aetra, who is in charge of the clean water using. Besides that, his party has also asked PT Aetra to accelerate the implementation of Stop Deep Well program in North Jakarta.

“Aetra should back up the City Administration, as supposed to be, the deep well in North Jakarta should be zero, it is forbidden,” stated Hartono, Monday (6/9).

North Jakartans, Beware of Formalin Fish in Traditional Markets

North Jakarta has targeted in 2015 to remove the development using deep well water, and it should be connected with clean water belongs to the government. With this, the deep well water in new buildings is easier to be controlled.

“The control is easy, if there is a development, I just need to ask Aetra whether it has been connected with clean water or not,” said Hartono.

He also asked PT Aetra to open the new water pipe to flow the water in North Jakarta, especially to the North Business Strategic Unit area.

Meanwhile PT Aetra President Director, Mohamad Selim, stated ready to assist the North Jakarta City Administration to accelerate the Stop Deep Well program. One of the ways that needs to be done is fixing the connecting channels and adding main pipes, especially in North Business Strategic Unit area in 2014.

“We will always increase our service to the residents in North Jakarta by fixing the connecting channels and adding main pipes in North Business Strategic area,” stated Selim.

PT Aetra also asked the North Jakarta City Administration to also assist controlling illegal waterway since it needs city dissemination about the Bylaw No. 11/1993 on drinking water service.
