“
All traders who have registered will be relocated to Monas basement. The design of the basement will be finished this year and soon to be built in 2015 ,” stated Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama when opening Jakarta Fair in Monas, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (10/6).When the basement construction has finished, all cadgers will be relocated without exception. At the time being, Jakarta Provincial Government is still giving tolerance to them to trade in Monas area, even though it violates the bylaw on public order.
Basuki: There Will Be Massive Raid Against Street Vendors“Especially on these days, we’re gathering the cadgers for a week to trade at Monas Jakarta Fair that is first organized by the city government,” he told.
According to Basuki, Monas Jakarta Fair is held to provide the opportunity for small traders to trade without any tax charges imposed. Jakarta Provincial Government also sought support a number of corporate sponsors to fund the event.
“Once a year we may as well use the sponsor ads for business promotion and organizes free Jakarta Fair for Jakartans,” he expressed.
In that occasion, Basuki also informed that Jakarta Provincial Government will implement electronic money (e-money) transaction to Monas cadgers starting next year. It is conducted to know their sales turnover.
“Through the implementation of e-money, the traders whose products unsold can be known. Thus, the next year they better not participate. So, their positions can be replaced with other traders who sell better products,” he uttered.
Basuki also disclosed that he already knew the cause of the chaos that has been happening in Monas area all this time.
“Many officials play in this game. They rent cars for visitors who want to do nasty things and let bikers enter Monas as long as they give money. This is a police report, and I have already pocketed some names and some plate numbers of officials’ vehicles. I promise to demote Head Unit of Monas Park Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) due to incompetent in work,” he asserted.
