Sea Patrols in Seribu Islands will Be Reintensified

Seribu Islands Regent, Budi Utomo instructs Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept. and Satpol PP to re-intensify sea patrols in the territorial waters following the rise of fish theft case in a number of islands.

According to him, the offender uses trawl nets, locally known as pukat harimau, to catch fish. Surely it would damage coral reefs and fishermen's rumpon.

"This fishing gear is also able to catch small fishes in the sea," he continued.

Seribu Islands Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept. Head, Sutrisno added has coordinated with dept. and Satpol PP to hold sea patrols in the waters.

"The fish theft case has entered in the waters of Harapan Island and Untung Jawa Island. We'll control it," he closed.
