Council Requested Total Renovation for 24 School Buildings

City Council Commission E requested Education Dept. to allocate budget for total renovation of 24 elementary school buildings in five Jakarta regions in 2018.

Council cancelled great renovation and requested for total renovation to be proposed in 2018

City Council Commission E Vice Chairman, Ramly H.I. Muhammad said, previously great renovation of 24 school buildings has been budgeted in City Budget 2017. But it was considered that it is needed total renovation after his side observed on the field.

"Because it was considered just waste the budget then Council cancelled great renovation and requested for total renovation to be proposed in 2018," he expressed, Thursday (6/8).

Renovation Towards 103 Schools Expected to Be Completed This Year

Ashraf Ali, Member of the same commission in Council added, total renovation is not just build new building, but also add classroom capacity for students.

"We hope the school building can accommodate more students especially for children who live surround the area," he said.

Regarding to that case, Jakarta Education Deputy Head, Bowo Irianto explained, his side has proposed budget as many as Rp 1.1 trillion to great renovate dozens of school buildings.

"We have allocated budget Rp 1.1 trillion to renovate totally 59 school buildings and add new classrooms in three schools," he closed.
