99.7 Percent of Food from Markets in Central Jakarta Safe to Eat

Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept. has tested 337 food samples from three traditional markets, one coaching location (lokbin) and one supermarket.

Supervision is aimed to protect people from substance abuse and hazardous materials

According to Bayu Sari Hastuti, Head of Central Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept., supervision against food products is done at four markets and one supermarket.

"From initial target by 315 samples, we are able to take 337 samples or 106.98 percent. From that samples, 109 of them are agriculture product, 140 samples are fishery product and 88 samples ore livestock product," she stated, Monday (6/12).

C. Jakarta KPKP Sub-dept. Tested 275 Food Samples

Based on laboratory results, 99.7 percent of food products are safe to be consumed.

"One imported agriculture product is positively safe from formalin, except livestock and fishery products," he explained.

He explained, the finding is then made in a dossier (BAP) and product withdrawal. Afterwards, they will then be destroyed.

"Supervision is aimed to protect people from substance abuse and hazardous materials," he closed.
