Border Gate Guarded 24 Hours to Drive PMKS Out

The South Jakarta Sub-dept. of Social is standby preventing People With Social Welfare Problems (PMKS) entering the city by guarding some borders, such as Depok and South Tangerang. At this time, there are hundreds of PMKS secured. Abdurrahman Anwar, the agency head said so, Friday (6/13).

Allegedly Leaked, PMKS Raid Only Secured 2 People

Acccording to Anwar, South Jakarta Social Service supervision and Control (P3S) team will standby on location for 24 hours. "There are 60 personnel of P3S to be divided into three shifts, 8 AM to 3 PM, 3 PM to 10 PM, and 10 PM to 8 AM. They also guard the borderline on holiday," he added.

The areas which often used outsiders entering Jakarta are Pasar Minggu, Lebak Bulus, Pondok Indah, Jalan Fatmawati Raya, Bintaro, Kebayoran Lama, Tebet, and Blok M. "They consist of beggars, street singer, up to wagon man," he stated.

Anwar admitted that his personnel are unable to cover the whole South Jakarta areas, but he has made coordination with other units.

 

He suggested the residents to give alms in an official institution. It is better than giving alms to PMKS. "We did not forbid people to give alms, but only addressing into the right way," he uttered.
