Inundation at Cawang Tunnel Has Receded

Flood water inundated Cawang tunnel, East Jakarta, at dawn. East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-dept. deployed three mobile pumps to suction the water.

We are using two mobile pumps and SDA Sub-dept. prepares one pump

Suctioning has been started from 1 to 3 A.M. with pump which has capacity of 250-500 litres per second.

Cawang tunnel was inundated as high as 20-25 centimeters. Allegedly, it was caused by clogged water channel.

Inundation in Pejaten Timur Finally Recedes

East Jakarta Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-dept.'s Fire Handling and Rescue Section Head, Gatot Sulaiman said, his side used mobile pumps to conduct suctioning. It took a long time to handle it due to a lot of flood water.

"We are using two mobile pumps and SDA Sub-dept. prepares one pump," he said, Monday (7/10).

Meanwhile, East Jakarta Mayor, Bambang Musyawardana said, inundation was caused by clogged water channel.

"It happened due to clogged water channel," he confirmed.

Besides, rain water that flows from highway above the tunnel is also causing Cawang tunnel to be inundated when heavy rain falls.
