City to Develop Communal Systems For Sanitation

Jakarta Provincial Government is going to develop communal systems for sanitation in the capital

Those who have toilet but no septic tank must also be a concern. Surely we'll help them to provide it

Assistant to the governor for spatial planning and the environment, Oswar Muadzin Mungkasa disclosed, the city plans to develop piping systems for wastewater in zone 15. In 2050, it is targeted 80 percent of area in the capital has been served by piping systems.

Communal Sanitation Project in Residential Accelerated

"But this is still a long time. While awaiting it, we will develop communal systems," he said, at City Hall, Wednesday (7/12).

He expressed, until now, around 37,000 people to defecate in any place, especially those living in the watershed causing pollution.

"The point is at least 400,000 people who defecate in any place can be reduced within five years," he stated.

He added, there are two communal systems that can be developed. They are communal toilet and communal septic tank in which can be used for some households.

"Those who have toilet but no septic tank must also be a concern. Surely we'll help them to provide it," he closed.
