KFT Reservoir Needs to Be Dredged, 500 Million Prepared

The residents of Karyawan Film dan Televisi (KFT) in RW 11, Cengkareng Barat Urban Village, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, ask related institution to immediately dredge KFT Reservoir near the settlement. It is aimed to prevent flood hit the area again.

The flood is easily inundate the settlement when heavy rain pours since the reservoir is unable to accommodate the water debt. The reservoir which established in 1982 is rarely dredged. The condition is getting worse since trashes and water hyacinth filled the reservoir.

Hendrawan (55), one of the residents, the reservoir overflowed also inundate Jalan kamal Raya Outer Ring Road, Cengkareng up to one meter.
“The reservoir has now already shallow by mud. It is useless to have reservoir,” said Hendrawan, Saturday (6/14).
West Jakarta Head Section of Planning for Sub-dept. of Public Works for Water, Santo, said that there is a plan to dredge the reservoir this year. The proposed budget is Rp 500 million.
“Based on the authority, we only conduct treatment and construction for the reservoir below 5,000 square meters. And one of it is KFT reservoir,” said Santo.
West Jakarta has several reservoirs such as Wijaya Kusuma, Grogol, Kepa, Pondok Bandung, Hankam 1 and 2, Hutan Kota Srengseng, Bojong, KFT, Peternakan, Perikanan, and Tomang Flyover. Those reservoirs are below 5,000 meter square. While normalized reservoirs are Peternakan, Kapuk, and Wijayakusuma.
