Motorcycle Prohibited Lane Extension will Be Reviewed

Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) proposes for motorcycle prohibited lane extension. Besides Jl. Merdeka Barat and Jl. MH. Thamrin, DTKJ proposes to prohibit motorcycle to pass along Jl. Jenderal Sudirman.

We recommend to add Jl. Sudirman for its extension. From Bunderan HI to Senayan must be free from motorcycle

DTKJ Head, Iskandar Abubakar said, motorcycle prohibited lane extension is needed to increase the number of public transportation user. Hopefully, citizen who are working in the area could use public transportation.

"We recommend to add Jl. Sudirman for its extension. From Bunderan HI to Senayan must be free from motorcycle," he said, Tuesday (8/1).

City Collaborates With PMJ to Hold Orderly Traffic Month

According to him, recently half of private vehicle users are motorcyclists. He hopes this recommendation could be done in order to reach 40 percent of road users to use public transportation in 2020.

Jakarta Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat supports that recommendation. Because from the data he has, motorcycle is expanding around 15 thousand per day.

"Now it has reached 7-8 million units. This needs to be controlled thus not trigger traffic jam," he said.

Jakarta Transportation Dept. (Dishub) Head, Andri Yansyah said, technically his side must hold focus group discussion to study it. Then his side also needs to know some responses related to the policy.

"We plan to hold FGD with BPTJ next week. It also needs to be socialized after it has been set," he closed.
