Waste Bank Is Capable of Managing 300 Tons of Waste Every Day

Every day, waste volume in the capital is reaching 7,000 tons. From that number, 300 tons out of them can be managed through waste bank. While the rest 6,700 tons are disposed to Bantar Gebang Landfill, Bekasi, West Java.

Bantar Gebang Landfill Technical Management Unit Head, Asep Kuswanto stated there have been 400 waste banks that can reduce waste up to 300 tons per day.

"Jakarta can produce 7,000 tons of waste every day. 6,700 tons out of them are disposed to Bantar Gebang Landfill. And the rest will be managed through waste bank," he expressed, during public discussion with theme of manipulating the private role of waste management in Cikini, Central Jakarta, Thursday (8/3).

Besides waste bank, it is also helped with the stalls owned by the public. From the stalls, some of the waste that has economic value is collected to make money.

"We're also developing 3R (Recycle, Reuse, Reduce). So it is able to reduce waste volume that sent to Bantar Gebang," he told.

Kuswanto admitted will continue to try developing waste bank and socialize 3R to the people. Thus waste managed independently can be more abundant

"By so waste volume will be reduced optimally," he closed.
