Raided PMKS Will Celebrate Eid in Social Institution

Jakarta is like a paradise for people with social welfare problem (PMKS) to beg citizen's charity during Ramadan. They often seen on some roadsides, worship houses, and offices.

We give this sanction to make them wary and not come back to Jakarta again when Ramadan comes

Jakarta Dept. of Social will hold sympathetic operation by deploying 160 Social Control and Supervision (P3S) personnel supported with Satpol PP. It is aimed to narrow PMKS movement.

The operation will be centered to 15 spots that are prone of PMKS such as Coca Cola intersection, Senen, Galur, Kelapa Gading, Pramuka, Matraman, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Pasar Rebo, Trakindo, Fatmawati, Pejaten, Pancoran, Mampang Kuningan, Tugu Pemuda, and Slipi.

“They will raid PMKS, and take them to our social institution to be guided,” said Prayitno, Head Section for People with Social Problem Rehabilitation of Jakarta Social Department, Wednesday (6/18).

Prayitno added, PMKS netted on the operation are ensured will celebrate Eid in social institution. This is conducted to give wary effect to all PMKS who keep recalcitrant.

Jakarta Social Department Head, Masrokhan stated, hopefully PMKS will think again to beg for money in Jakarta when Ramadan comes. “We give this sanction to make them wary and not come back to Jakarta again when Ramadan comes,” he stated.

According to Masrokhan, PMKS which netted on the raid will be sent back to hometown 12 days after Eid. Before they sent back, they first will be coached in City Social Department. They will be trained to have business in their hometown and will not go to the street again.

Masrokhan admitted, the number of PMKS in the city during Ramadan increased to 20 to 25 percent, or from 4,045 people to 4,500 people.
