Pumps Maintenance in Central Jakarta Has Reached 90 Percent

Around eight pumps in Central Jakarta are under maintainance. It is targeted to be completed in the forthcoming September.

Each pump has different suction power. There is one pump can suck up 500-1,000 cubic liters

"Those pumps are located at seven locations. Maintenance itself has been ongoing since last July, and now it has touched 90 percent," expressed Boris Karlop Lumbangaol, Section Head of Channel Maintenance and Treatment for Central Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept., Monday (8/28).

The eight pumps are two units of Jaya Building, one unit of Mapalus Building, one unit of Jalan Rajawali Selatan, one unit of Dwiwarna, one unit of Sumur Batu and one unit of Jalan Cempaka Baru.

"Each pump has different suction power. There is one pump can suck up 500-1,000 cubic liters," he told.

Actually, he furthered, there is no significant malfunction to the pump. However, maintenance is done on several components and must be cleaned.

"The cleaning of the propeller components is the main one, as there is often a lot of garbage that gets stuck, which makes the engine work harder and can cause malfunction," he closed.
