Drainpipe Installed at Cawang Tunnel to Minimize Puddles

The drainpipe installation in Cawang tunnel, East Jakarta is a step to anticipate the emergence of puddles, especially when there is rain with high intensity.

It has been done and is hopefully able to minimize puddles. This is just temporary

According to Yoserizal, Section Head of Maintenance for East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-dept., the Light Rail Transit (LRT) contractors, PT Adhi Karya, carry out such drainpipe installation. Its installation is temporary during the LRT construction.

"We've coordinated with PT Adhi Karya contractor to put up the pipe. It has been done and is hopefully able to minimize puddles. This is just temporary," he stated, Tuesday (7/11).

The pipe in the size of 8 inches with 80 meters length is installed from the end of the tunnel to a control tub on the sidewalk. When heavy rain and puddles occur, it will be used for discharging water by pumping.

In future, he added, there must be a waterway from micro channel on the side of Jalan MT Haryono towards connecting channel under the sidewalk. It aims to smoothen water flow when it rains.
