Many Lush Trees Covered Traffic Signs in Central Jakarta

A number of traffic signs in Central Jakarta are covered by lush trees and caused road users cannot see the traffic signs clearly. This condition can be found on Jalan Suprapto, Jalan Tanah Abang 2, Jalan Salemba Raya, Jalan Bungur, Jalan Rawa Sari, and Jalan Tanah Tinggi.

Bonar Situmeang (21), a Kampung Melayu resident, said he got lost when he was looking for his brother’s address in Bungur, Senen Sub-District.

Traffic Signs and Road Marks Covered by Tree Lushes, Motorists Complained

Head of Central Jakarta Parks Sub-Department, Jansen Saragih, admitted has received a lot of complaints and reports regarding the lush trees that cover traffic signs in eight sub-districts in Central Jakarta.

“We have received letters from traffic police unit, Transportation Department, and locals asking those lush trees to be immediately pruned. We’ll do it gradually. While for lush trees in Budi Kemuliaan, Tanah Abang 2, Bungur, and Gunung Sahari, they have been pruned,” he stated.
