Commission B Evaluates LED Lamps Usage

City Council Commission B Chairman, Yusriah Dzinnun said, recently her side is still evaluating the benefit of using Light Emitting Diode (LED) for streetlights, especially for its electric efficiency.

"We are correcting and evaluating how much the efficiency from installed LED lamps," she said in hearing meeting with Jakarta Industry and Energy Dept., Thursday (9/14).

She added, last year LED lamps usage saved around 30 percent from City's total expense per month.

28,001 PJU Lamps Replaced With LED

"If the cost for these lamps is reducing, then it is the indicator that there is an efficiency," she expressed.

Besides for efficiency, she continued, LED lamps also can improve lighting quality and quantity of City lighting based on IT and international standard.

Jakarta Industry and Energy Dept. Head, Yuli Hartono said, her side will realize city lighting that has international standard with advanced electrical reliability.

She said, her side had changed streetlights (PJU) lamps from conventional to LED Smart System (SS) in 89,417 points in 2016. While in 2017, her side targets to install in 80,920 points.

"We will replace conventional PJU lamps with LED Smart System to improve City lightning quality and quantity based on energy saving," she closed.
