Public Minivans Remain Operating in Lebak Bulus Terminal

Although Lebak Bulus Terminal has been closed down for the need of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) construction, yet the public minivans will remain operating in the terminal. To smooth the operational, terminal lanes will be extended to replace two lanes that have been closed down for MRT construction.

We’ll extend the terminal lanes until the exit gate that were previously used by AKAP bus

“We’ll extend the terminal lanes until the exit gate that were previously used by AKAP bus,” said Head of Jakarta Transportation Department Terminal Technical Management Unit, Anton Parura, Thursday (6/26).

To extend the terminal lanes, Parura disclosed that additional land is needed. Hence, some buildings around the terminal must be demolished first. By doing so, traffic congestion caused by public minivans that are lining up to get into the terminal can be minimized.

“A terminal is supposedly for picking up and dropping off passengers, not to park and wait for passengers,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Head of Cilandak Sub-District Satpol PP, Djaurina, informed that 25 officers are deployed to demolish the buildings stood inside Lebak Bulus Terminal to build additional lanes for public minivans.

“We demolished four buildings which consist of food stalls, telephone kiosk, and public toilets,” he told.

The demolishment had gone chaotic due to protests from public minivan drivers who thought the terminal would be closed permanently. But after the terminal management gave an explanation to them, the situation goes back normal.
