Citizens Asked to Support Ciliwung River Normalization

The process of Ciliwung River normalization keeps being accelerated. At this time, Jakarta Public Works Department and Building Control Committee team are conducting socialization about land acquisition to local citizens living on the banks of the Ciliwung River. The city administration targets land compensation could already be paid off by then of this year, where its acquisition focused on land as wide as 19.8 km, from Manggarai Sluice Gate, South Jakarta until Jalan TB Simatupang Bridge, Condet, East Jakarta.

Socialization in Balekambang Urban Village, was already done on Wednesday (6/25) afternoon and was attended by 100 people where their lands affected the project. The compensation will be adjusted with the taxable value of property (NJOP), between Rp 1.2-1.8 million per square meter. Its payment is covered by Jakarta Public Works Department, as fund user.
Except for Kampung Melayu Urban Village, socialization has been done earlier and is currently awaiting for publication of a plot map by East Jakarta National Land Agency (BPN). In RW 06 and 07, its amount reaches 126 plot maps, while in RW 01, 02, 03, is not known due to meeting has not been held yet.
According to Edy Sudrajat, Head of utility Network Facility Section for Jakarta Public Works Department, if the normalization was done, the Ciliwung River would have a width of between 50-70 m. On left and right sides, there would be inspection road as wide as 7-10 m by spending Rp 20 billion and added about Rp 30 billion from 2014 City Budget (APBD) Amendment, for land acquisition.
"Lands affected by land acquisition are in two regions. They are East Jakarta with 7 urban villages and South Jakarta with 8 urban villages. Thus far, socialization stage to land owners is under process," he expressed.
Those 7 urban villages in East Jakarta are Kebon Manggis, Kampung Melayu, Bidaracina, Cawang, Cililitan, Balekambang, Gedong. As for the South Jakarta, they consist of Bukit Duri, Manggarai, Kebon Baru, Cikoko, Pengadegan, Rawajati, Pejaten Timur, and Tanjung Barat.
