PMI DKI Pastikan Stok Kantung Darah Aman Selama Ramadhan

PMI Intensifies Blood Donor Activity Before Ramadhan

Residents’ lack of enthusiasm to donor their blood during Ramadhan makes Jakarta Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) intensifies blood donor activity to meet the supply of blood. During fasting month, blood donor activity will be held at night after tarawih prayer. In addition, Jakarta PMI will also travel around to malls and churches to find blood donors by involving TNI and police personnel.

We’ll intensify blood donor activity after breakfasting or after tarawih prayer along Ramadhan

“In fasting month, we will start to travel around malls and churches with TNI and police personnel to prepare the blood supply. We’ll also intensify blood donor activity after breakfasting or after tarawih prayer along Ramadhan,” stated Head of Jakarta PMI Blood Donor Unit, Salimar Salim, Thursday (6/26).

Even so, Jakarta PMI will remain open the blood donor service in the morning and afternoon. The current stock of blood is still normal in the amount of 6,000 blood bags that are going to be added until tomorrow June 27. Blood stock usually declines ahead the third week of fasting month since at that time many residents have already gone to their hometowns to celebrate Eid ul Fitr.

“Current stock of blood bags is still safe. Before Ramadhan, we will increase blood bag stock by taking to institutions (through blood donor activity) until June 27 tomorrow,” uttered Salim.

According to him, the residents’ need for blood supply could reach 800-1,000 bags per day.  Because of that, his party targets to have 10,000 blood bags before Ramadhan starts.

“Our target is to keep 10,000 blood bags before fasting month,” he told
