Coastal Residents Should Be Aware of Supermoon Phenomenon

City Council warns coastal residents to be aware of tidal flood due to supermoon phenomenon that will occur in Jakarta.

"For coastal residents, please be aware of anything that could happen due to supermoon phenomenon," said Bestari Barus, Member of City Council's Commission, Tuesday (1/2).

Council Wants Prona Socialization Intensified

Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Board (BMKG) predicted, supermoon phase will occur between January 1-4 and January 29-February 2, 2018.

Based on BMKG's written statement, coastal residents in Jakarta and other regions in Indonesia should be aware of high tide which is potentially to happen.

"I hope related SKPDs and citizen to be aware due to BMKG's statement," he mentioned.

Another Commission D Member, Rikardo also said similar thing. According to him, high tide could be triggered by various factors. Including supermoon phenomenon that must be anticipated early.

"Because supermoon has been informed early, I guess we will call related SKPDs to anticipate it," he stated.
