Council Criticizes Availability of Clean Water in Seribu Islands

Jakarta DPRD's Commission D, criticized the availability of clean water for Seribu Island residents, during the discussion and deepening meeting on 2018 Bylaw APBD with Jakarta Water Resources Dept., Thursday (11/23).

There should be special attention to the availability of clean water in the islands

Jakarta DPRD's Commission D Chairperson, Iman Satria said, there are currently many people in Seribu Islands who are still having trouble getting clean water. He wants the dept. to pay more attention to clean water facilities for people there.

Clean Water Supply Pipeline System in Pegadungan Reviewed

"There should be special attention to the availability of clean water in the islands. It must be prioritized on the locals, community service, improvement of clean water management, etc," he stated.

In response to the matter, Jakarta Water Resources Dept. Head, Teguh Hendrawan explained, in 2018, his dept. will build a Brackish Water Reverse Osmosis (BWRO) that serves to cultivate brackish water. Thus, it can meet the needs of citizens.

"Yes, we want to build BWRO next year. Thus far we're still doing finalization and assessment, as this development takes time," he said.
