City Police to Tighten Sterilization in 3 TransJakarta Bus Corridors

The habit of private and public transport drivers, who keep trespassing TransJakarta bus lanes, especially in the morning when going to office and afternoon after returning from work, is slowing down the arrival of the mass transportation. So, to improve service and shorten TransJakarta bus headway, the City Police will sterilize three TransJakarta bus corridors which often trespassed by private vehicles and public transports.

The three corridors are corridor II (Kota Harapan Indah-Harmoni), corridor III (Kalideres-Pasar Baru), and corridor IX (Pluit-Pinang Ranti)

“The three corridors are corridor II (Kota Harapan Indah-Harmoni), corridor III (Kalideres-Pasar Baru), and corridor IX (Pluit-Pinang Ranti), which very crowded,” stated City Police Traffic Directorate Chief Sr. Comr. Restu Budiyanto, Friday (7/4).

According to Budiyanto, extra personnel will be deployed in those corridors because the amount of violations occurred is high. In doing sterilization, his party will not discriminate. Vehicle other than TransJakarta bus that trespasses TransJakarta bus lanes will be ticketed, even if the one passing was a policeman.

80 Buses to Serve Night Service

“The rule is clear, the lane can only be passed by TransJakarta bus,” he asserted.

Besides motorists’ low discipline, City Police Traffic Directorate recorded that TransJakarta bus lanes are often trespassed because there are many intersections. Moreover, the absence of road separator also becomes another reason why private vehicles and public transports pass on TransJakarta bus lanes, like in corridor IX.

“To create wary effect, we no longer reprimand violators. We directly ticket them,” he said.

Meanwhile, City Police Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate Chief AKBP Hindarsono told that the sterilization is conducted in busy hours, namely 6-10 AM and 4-7 PM. He also admitted that the implementation of blue slip ticket does not make violators wary, although the maximum fine imposed is Rp 500 thousand.

“There are still many violators with such sanction. Maybe there should be a more severe sanction later,” he expressed.
