ERP System Tested Out This Mid-July

Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, M Akbar, said two foreign companies, Q-free and Kapsch has stated interest in becoming an investor in the implementation of Electronic Road Pricing (ERP). From both companies, only the Kapsch company from Sweden is ready to test out the system on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman and Jalan MH Thamrin in mid-July 2014.

ERP system is one of the city administration's step to overcome traffic congestion in the capital by reducing four-wheeled vehicle on some roads. The system will be implemented along Jalan Sudirman, from Panin Building or Ratu Plaza.
He disclosed that such system only has entrance gate and is different with toll road gate. "When passing the gate, we just pay electronically through the On Board Unit (OBU) in each vehicle," he explained.
In the trial, Akbar added, Transportation Department plans to install 50 OBUs for free on vehicles that pass on Jalan Sudirman or ERP gate.
"We provide the OBU for free. We just want to ensure whether the system can run well or not," he uttered.
