Council Wants Seribu Islands Marine Biota to Be More Concerned

City Council Commission B wants Jakarta Tourism and Culture Dept. (Disparbud) and Maritime Agriculture and Food Tenacity (KPKP) Dept. to concern more about Seribu Islands marine biota.

Commission E Head, Yusriah Dzinnun stated, Disparbud and KPKP Dept. can give socialization with local fishermen and tourist about the importance of preserving marine biota.

"Fishermen also need socialization. It is KPKP Dept. task in giving them understanding and knowledge to take care of marine biota," she explained, Wednesday(1/10).

She also mentioned Jakarta Government to develop marine biota, including coral reef in Seribu Islands.

"Maybe they can provide a place to develop marine biota," she added.

Meanwhile, Commission B member, Endah Setia Dewi Pradjoko added, Disparbud needs to develop ecotourism in socializing marine biota existence thus people awareness towards environment will be enhanced.

"Ecotourism is needed to educate local people, especially in maintaining nature conservation. Thus signs are also needed to prevent tourists from touching coral reef," she explained.
