Sandi Welcomes Visit of 2018 Java Jazz Festival Committee

Jakarta Deputy Governor, Sandiaga Uno, officially welcomed the visit of 2018 Java Jazz Festival committees at City Hall, Wednesday (1/10).

In the meeting, he revealed, Jakarta Provincial Government was ready to support Java Jazz Festival this year, which falls on March 2-4 at JIExpo Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

"It can move the economy and create jobs. Based on the data, the number of people who work for three days of Java Jazz Festival is about 11,000 people, including vendors, safety officers, musicians, and others," he expressed, Wednesday (1/10).

He added, the festival that presents famous and domestic musicians would be able to promote the tourism sector and image of Jakarta as a metropolis and city that strongly supports the spirit of international friendship.

"I'll coordinate with Communication, Informatic and Statistic Dept. in Jakarta can be used to echo the 2018 Java Jazz Festival," he expressed.

PT Java Festival Production President Director, Dewi Gontha welcomed the support provided by the city government. It is because, without the city's support, the festival will be difficult to run consistently each year.

"We're still awaiting the actual support that will be provided, the request that we submit is given some waivers and exemptions associated to the promotion of festival and relief related to taxes spectacle," she stated.

She explained the festival takes theme "Jazz in Diversity". It will be combined with other Jazz derivatives.

"The aim is to attract bigger markets. In line with that, we also want to educate that Jazz music can be enjoyed by all markets and ages," she said.
