Sandi Wants Seribu Islands to Be International Ecotourism Area

Jakarta Vice Governor, Sandiaga Uno wants Seribu Islands Regency to be international maritime ecotourism area.

Now, we prioritize Seribu Islands in Jakarta

According to him, ecotourism is an environment-based tourism which is prioritizing nature conservation, local residents empowerment in economy, culture, social, education, and learning aspects. It is hoped to open more job opportunities and ensure environmental sustainability.

"Now, we prioritize Seribu Islands in Jakarta," he stated in his office in Bidadari Island, Untung Jawa Island Urban Village, South Seribu Islands Sub-district, Monday (1/29).

He explained, it needs multisector cooperation from SKPD, BUMD, private sides, and local residents to make Seribu Islands as ecotourism area.

"I have instructed Economy Bureau Head to monitor and ensure for local economic and employment attainment figures," he mentioned.

He added, Seribu Islands small medium and micro enterprises (UMKM) needs to be developed more. Especially through One Kecamatan One Center for Entrepreneurship (OK OCE) program.

"We also want to ensure Seribu Islands to have Jak Grosir and aquaculture development," he conveyed.
