Disabled People Enthusiast Cast Their Voting Rights

We want to cast our voting rights to determine the fate of the nation of Indonesia

The General Elections Commission (KPU) ensures that disabled people voters have the same opportunity in the moment of the 2014 Presidential Election. This is because the votes cast, will determine the fate of the nation of Indonesia up to five years into the future.

On that basis, the polling stations (TPS) 50 in RW 09 Cilandak Barat, Cilandak, South Jakarta, is distributed to disabled people. Since 7 AM, some living in a house at Fatmawati Golf Mansion, Jalan Wijaya 15A, flocked to the TPS 50.

"We want to cast our voting rights to determine the fate of the nation of Indonesia," said Sutardi (42), one of the disabled who come using his wheelchair, Wednesday (7/9).

Sutardi admitted he had difficulties to go to the TPS using his wheelchair. To reach it, he should pass an incline first. Luckily, the TPS committee already preparing officers to help disabled people.

"The important thing is the next president don't forget us, where we want public and social facilities for disabled," he hoped.

The amount of voters is reaching 349 people and 31 out of them are disabled people. "There are 31 disabled living in a house for disabled. Yet some yet come because they already married and live outside residential," said Heru, one of members of the Voting Committee (PPS).
