Jakarta Vice Governor, Sandiaga Uno stated that his side has formed a team to monitor groundwater usage, especially in office buildings, malls, and apartments.

He mentioned, excess groundwater suction can lead to land subsidence. Thus Jakarta Provincial Government will not tolerate any illegal ground water usage.

"We must be aware with this land subsidence issue since it is very dangerous," he added, Wednesday (3/14).

He explained, there are five teams for each five regions. For early phase, it will focus to monitor groundwater usage in locations that provide piped clean water service.

"Locations that have been installed with pipe from PDAM should not take groundwater," he affirmed.
