Healthcare Post Open to Check Bus Drivers' Health

Approaching homecoming season and Eid ul Fitr, the Jakarta Transportation Department and National Narcotics Agency (BNN) are cooperating to open the healthcare and medical check-up posts in all over bus terminals and pools. Those are prepared to check up the bus driver's condition.

"The BNN will test the bus drivers first before they carry passenger, whether they consume alcohol drink or not," expressed Head of Jakarta Transportation Department, M Akbar, Sunday (7/13).

Akbar added the same way was also already conducted last year in order to create convenience and safety for passenger. "Last year, we also did medical check-up against tens of bus drivers in Jakarta," he told.

Not only that, as many as 12 terminal bus are also prepared to anticipate passenger surge during homecoming season. Those comprising three main terminals and nine supporting terminals spread in five municipalities. The three main terminals are Kalideres, Rambutan, and Pulogadung. "While for nine supporting terminals, are Tanjung Priok, Pinang Ranti, Rawamangun, and Pulogebang, which are new terminals," he explained.

He stated his department prepares 100 bus pools. "These pools are deliberately prepared to accommodate the homecomers to go to their hometown thus passenger surge can be minimized," he expressed.

He explains as many as 7,000 regular buses of intercity interprovince (AKAP) would be deployed to carry the homecomers. "We also prepare 400 supporting buses as AKAP bus, namely tourist and city buses," he to
