Two MRT Trains Arrive in Jakarta

Two Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) trains have arrived in Jakarta by shipment via Tanjung Priok Port, Wednesday (4/4) morning.

These two MRT trains arrived at 5 PM in Tanjung Priok Port today

PT. MRT Jakarta Director, William P. Sahbandar said, those MRT trains have arrived since 5 AM. "These two MRT trains arrived at 5 PM in Tanjung Priok Port today," he informed.

He explained, train will be unloaded from cargo ship in Thursday (4/5) and it will be transported to Lebak Bulus Depot using multi-axle trailer.

MRT Construction Reaches 92.50 Percent

His side also conducted shipment simulation and test from February 2018 to ensure shipping can be done well.

"We do it to minimize traffic jam that could be happened," he explained.

He added, 14 other sets of train will be shipped by the end of June and it is targeted to arrive in Jakarta by the end of October. All of trains will be prepared for trial run.

For the first phase, PT. MRT Jakarta has prepared 16 train sets. 14 trains will be operated while two others will be backed up.

"Later on, MRT will operate from 5 AM to midnight. At rush hour, train operated by a distance of 5 minutes between trains," he informed.
