Deserted from Visitor, Peddlers in Ramadan Fair Go Bankrupt

The implementation of Ramadan Fair held by East Jakarta Administration is not fully getting appreciation from public. No wonder, the annual event that held from July 14-25 is always deserted from visitor, and 10 out of 40 stands left empty by the owners.

The event centered in the courtyard of East Jakarta Mayor office is allegedly lack of promotion, thus only a few people know. Whereas, the majority of stands are selling merchandise for Eid ul Fitr, like Muslim dress, groceries, and culinary.

"I will go bankrupt if my stand is deserted like this. Moreover, I have to spend a lot of money to rent stand here," lamented Akbar (40), one of Ramadan Fair participants, Wednesday (7/16).
Akbar disclosed that there are only a few people buy something in his stand. "Even, my merchandise is not yet sold at all," he explained.
Yon, (50), a resident of Cakung who was processing a permit at the office of East Jakarta Administration admitted he deeply regrets with the situation. "Perhaps, the promotion is unoptimal. That's why the event is deserted," he exclaimed.
As quoted by beritajakarta.com, two days of Ramadan Fair implementation, the visitor is dominated by employees serving under East Jakarta Administration. Actually, the event aims to attract lower-income people to shop Eid ul Fitr needs with affordable price.
Responding on this matter, Assistant of Economic and East Jakarta Administration, Sus Christine acknowledged she has not received any report. "I don't know why the event is really quiet. But I will find out it through the Economic Division," she expressed.
Head of East Jakarta Economic Section for East Jakarta Administration, Sutisna said his party has done socialization to sub-district and urban village heads, particularly near the office of East Jakarta Administration.
"We've mounted six banners to promote the event. Today is the second day, thus it is still quiet. I believe people will flock to the event tomorrow," he uttered.
